Employing disabled people raises the company’s prestige

Fingrow Consulting Group has been actively working to break social barriers for years. The main barrier that we face most often is the unawareness among employers of how valuable a disabled person and specialist in their field can be.

 

Juan José Méndez, a disabled Spanish cyclist, silver and bronze medalist from Beijing Paralympic (2008) has become a symbol of the struggle against adversity. His famous sentence: "Don't tell me you can't make it." went all around the world. Although his leg and arm were amputated and he survived clinical death, he did not give up. He says about himself that he "outsmarted death".

An entrepreneur employing at least 25 people who does not achieve the employment rate of people with disabilities at the level of 6 percent, must make a monthly payment to the State Fund for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled (PFRON) equal to the product of the number of disabled employees "missing" to achieve the required 6 percent and 40.65 percent of average salary. This is the money that could stay in the company's budget!

 

Because in our daily practice we recruit disabled people for our clients, we are aware that they are competent, hardworking, obligatory, honest and sometimes even qualified specialists in their field. Nevertheless, we often hear from our clients that disabled people will not be able to perform certain tasks.

 

It's not true. We know from experience that people with disabilities have different and comprehensive competences. The difference is that a qualified person often has a milder degree of disability. Despite their physical limitations, they are people characterized by admirable determination and motivation to acquire competences, knowledge and skills, both in their personal life, in sports and at work.
